Student Clinical Placements
Having students at the Grace is essential in promoting Clinical Excellence. At the Grace we foster a learning and supportive environment for both the members of our Interprofessional Team and also for our students. The wealth of experience that our staff members have is an intrinsic part of the learning process for students to combine with their fresh knowledge.
Since we value partnerships at the Grace, we have developed educational partnerships with various colleges and universities across Ontario to offer a meaningful learning experience for all students. Currently, the Grace provides placements for undergraduate, post-diploma, and graduate programs from Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Dietary, Speech Language Pathology, Spiritual Care, Social Work and Information Technology. The focus of all clinical placements is in the services that the facility provides which include, Post Acute Care Rehabilitation, Complex Continuing Care and Palliative Care.
Clinical placements provide a learning opportunity for both the student and the staff member through mentorship and preceptorship. Students get to experience how theory is applied to practice. While staff members develop their leadership skills and abilities through role modeling and guiding students towards evidenced-based best practice. As an organization we will continue to provide a learning environment where students will continue to experience what the Grace does best: provide a patient-focused, evidenced-based and holistic approach to care.
