Summer Volunteer Program

Celebrating Grace VolunteersSummer Program Information

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with our summer program. At the present time, based on limited availability, we are recruiting students who are available approximately 2 shifts per week during the summer and can continue one, three hour shift per week with our year round program. Please refer to our opportunities page for further details on specific roles at the hospital.

The summer volunteer program provides students with the opportunity to learn about a health care setting, work directly with patients and make a valuable contribution to patient care at the Toronto Grace. The summer program is geared towards senior university level students or individuals with transferable experience. Most placements are Monday through Friday during the daytime.

Volunteers can make a difference with patient care by visiting one-to-one with patients, supporting administrative activities and assisting with recreational activities.  Summer volunteers assist in numerous areas throughout the hospital including Patient Care Units, Therapeutic Recreation Programs, Arts at the Grace, Administration, special projects and leadership activities.

Summer volunteers must be available on the same day and time each week.  Most shifts are three hours in duration. Please note that placement opportunities depend on current needs and vary from program to program.

Summer applicants should allow enough time to complete the hospital health clearance requirements prior to the start of their placement.
