Coming to Palliative Care Unit at Toronto Grace

TGHC is located in downtown Toronto, two short blocks from Yonge/Bloor subway station. A parking lot is connected to our facility allowing accessible parking for visitors who drive. Within a five minute walk are grocery stores, a pharmacy (located on premise) and restaurants/coffee shops.

The Palliative Care Unite (PCU) is located on the 6th floor of our hospital.  The unit has 19-beds, with 4-private rooms, 1 room with 3 beds, and the rest are semi-private rooms.  It is on the same floor as our rooftop patio which is open during Spring, Summer and Fall.

Accommodation and associated costs

The Palliative Care Unit has 4 private rooms. The other rooms are semi-private except for one 3 bedroom.

All costs including telephone are covered except for:

  • Preferred Accommodation for private rooms. There is a daily charge when a patient does not have a medical need for a private room.
  • Television: $75/month; $10.25/day; telephone no charge.

At TGHC we cannot accept responsibility for lost, stolen or damaged items. We advise you not to bring large amounts of cash, jewelry or other valuables.

Visiting on the PCU

At the present time, patient visits must be scheduled ahead of time between 10 am and 8 pm daily.  Patients may have up to 2 visitors at a time. Every attempt is being made to enable much needed contact and support of patients by their essential caregivers on a regular basis.

If you have been exposed or tested positive for COVID 19, or you are symptomatic, please refrain from visiting TGHC. As well, please notify the switchboard as soon as possible so that we can ensure that the patients and staff are safe.
