The Toronto Grace Health Centre is pleased to announce its partnership with Booth University College in launching a new Certificate in Personal Support Worker (PSW) Program, designed to equip healthcare aides, nurses, and support workers with advanced skills in personal support work. This program is fully endorsed by the Canadian Support Workers Association (CANSWA), and offers industry standard training.
The PSW program, offered through Booth University College’s School for Continuing Studies, features an 8-month online, asynchronous curriculum that allows students the flexibility to progress at their own pace. The program also includes a 2-month mandatory practicum, which can be completed within the participants’ workplace, allowing them to gain hands-on experience.
A distinct feature of this program is its emphasis on integrating spiritual care within the coursework. Students will engage in training that prepares them to provide compassionate, holistic care in a multicultural and multi-faith setting, enhancing their ability to support patients’ well-being beyond the physical aspects of healthcare. The curriculum also incorporates an Integrated Remote Care Monitoring (IRCM) framework, enabling patients to recover in the comfort of their homes, while being closely monitored by healthcare professionals to minimize wait times and improve outcomes.
The pilot certificate program will commence on January 6, 2025. We encourage interested healthcare staff to enroll and to take advantage of the innovative educational model in the pilot certificate program.
Please see the attached e-flier and schedule for courses below. For more details about the PSW program and application process, visit the Booth University College website. For specific inquiries, please reach out to Dr. Jolly Deb, Program Coordinator, PSW at jolly.deb@boothuc.ca or scs@boothuc.ca.
Toronto Grace is excited about this collaboration and looks forward to contributing to the ongoing professional development of our healthcare community.
