“Offering good educational programs and skills training makes the Toronto Grace a desirable employer, as well as, it demonstrates a supportive and engaging environment for our staff.” Brent Martin, Clinical Dietitian

At The Salvation Army Toronto Grace Health Centre, employees are our most important resource. We believe that investing in the growth and development of staff is key to a positive employment and relationship experience. Professional and personal development are shared responsibilities between the employee and the hospital.

The Toronto Grace provides staff with ongoing education and training. For example, in-house medical practitioners share their expertise with our nurses and the interprofessional health care team, instructing them on the assessment and monitoring of patients, proper procedures for clinical incidents and emergencies, as well as on the use of new equipment. All of this enhances staff skills and also gives staff the qualifications for career growth. When staff feel supported, recognized and engaged, they succeed in providing exceptional and compassionate care for all.

The Toronto Grace also has a learning fund to facilitate the educational needs of our staff. The Professional Development Fund is available to all full-time and part-time employees of the hospital.  The fund criteria is individual skill improvement courses, conferences, seminars or workshops related to the employees’ professional/career development.  Fees, up to a maximum of $400 per employee per fiscal year can be reimbursed.

The Tuition Fund is also available to all full-time and part-time employees of the hospital.  Fees to a maximum of $2,500 per employee per fiscal year will be provided towards a university or college degree.
