…for Jeffrey, a twenty-seven year old Acquired Brain Injury patient. Jeffrey was diagnosed with a brain tumour and had the initial surgery in 2016. He came to The Salvation Army Toronto Grace Health Centre for slow-paced rehabilitation. His mother states, “All the medical staff, both in acute care and rehabilitation facilities, have worked hard to help my son get better.”

…for Zahida, an early childhood educator who suffers from Fibromyalgia that causes widespread body pain, muscle stiffness and extreme fatigue, and was also diagnosed with myositis, a disease of the mixed connective tissues. Zahida became increasingly worse and subsequently came to The Grace for her rehabilitation. When first admitted, she could hardly lift her arms and legs. She is now able to lift her arms to shoulder height. Zahida says, “The rehab team, the physiotherapist and occupational therapist, have been amazing”. Zahida is happy with the progress she has made.

…for Fanny, a fifty-seven year old Complex Continuing Care patient being treated for arteriorvenous malformation, a tangle of abnormal and poorly formed blood vessels that can occur in the brain. Fanny’s husband states that her survival “is a miracle.” Fanny required intense speech-therapy as she came to The Grace not communicating at all. She has made good progress. She has begun to speak, eat and drink. Fanny’s husband and daughter have witnessed the slow improvements and hope they continue in the days, months to come.

…for all our patients, make a difference by giving a gift to The Grace, big or small, to support The Grace in making a difference in our patients lives.

May the blessings of the season be yours,
