She was a patient in The Salvation Army Toronto Grace Health Centre’s (TGHC) Bariatric Program from December 2020 to March 2021.

Maria tells us that she was in an acute care hospital after she suffered a pulmonary embolism and was not able to walk as she did before.  She came to TGHC, and after several weeks of therapy she was able to stand on her own and take several steps at a time.

Maria shares that, “Everyone treated me with utmost respect and I thought the atmosphere was more like an extended family.  I thoroughly enjoyed my rehab there.  The nurses and programs like Psychotherapy and Recreation Therapy were incredible.  I was not expecting Recreation Therapy because I never experienced that in the local hospital.  Overall, it gave me more strength to go home, and I am still enjoying all that positivity to this day!”

Maria thank you for sharing your success story with us, and we wish you all the best.
